About the course

We Build Bridges is a comprehensive online course designed to help you learn and implement a new approach to building social infrastructure in the neighbourhoods where you live or work.

We have called this approach Inclusive Co-creation. It has been developed through social R&D, working in action research cycles over fourteen years.

Through the course, you will discover how we have developed this approach and what we have learned so far. You will be able to consider how to continue building on this research and developing it further in your unique context with the fantastic people you will work with.

During its development, many initiatives were designed and tested; some of these were small prototypes, while others were much bigger.  All of them were very important in discovering what works. Thousands of people living in real neighbourhoods have been involved in testing and refining this approach.

There have been many funders and partners, which we highlight below.

Special thanks

Every One Every Day would not have existed without the wonderful people of Barking and Dagenham.

Thousands of people came out of their homes to spend time with their neighbours doing practical everyday activities together.

Stepping into one of the shop spaces on any given day has always been a joyful experience. Bright, colourful spaces filled with people from every culture and background making each other feel welcome and accepted, forming friendships across the many differences that usually keep us apart.

The residents have worked with the team to figure out what it takes to build a genuinely inclusive neighbourhood network. It's not just about saying 'we are inclusive' and putting a welcome sign on the door. It's about working with the team every single day to create more practical opportunities to attract and include as many people as possible in building a vision of a multicultural neighbourhood founded on friendship and trust.

The participants co-designed with the team; they challenged and supported. They shared their time, creativity and insight as the ecosystem of activities grew.

While many participants may not realise it yet, together, they have accomplished something extraordinary that will positively impact others' lives.

Every One Every Day was a research and development initiative to see if it was possible to develop a new approach that would weave practical participation into the fabric of daily life.

The residents proved that it is. Their legacy will resonate in neighbourhoods worldwide in the years ahead.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the residents who made this challenging research project important, beautiful and so much fun.

To the team members and trustees who have worked on this R&D project over the last fourteen years.

A massive thank you to all the incredible team members who have contributed to this research over the years. Their dedication across various initiatives and roles has been instrumental in shaping and advancing this approach. We deeply value their invaluable contributions, which have been key to its development. You can view the full list of team members here.
